Turning Risk into Delivery: A Commitment Beyond Responsibility

Project Background: Multi Supplier Consolidation

At the beginning, the project appeared straightforward. The client ordered full house cabinetry from us while sourcing staircases, doors, and windows from other suppliers. For shipping, the client chose a freight forwarder recommended by the window supplier.

This type of multi supplier consolidation is common in our industry, and we fully respected the client’s arrangement. Our responsibility was to manufacture and deliver the goods to the port, while logistics was handled by the appointed forwarder.

The Problem: Lack of Professionalism from the Forwarder

As the shipment progressed, issues began to emerge. The forwarder repeatedly requested unnecessary or duplicate documents and showed a weak understanding of basic export procedures. We initially cooperated and even provided guidance to help move things forward.

However, the situation worsened during customs clearance. Incorrect declarations caused repeated delays, and the process became inefficient and repetitive. More importantly, these mistakes led to additional costs, including clearance fees, port storage charges, and container demurrage.

Escalation: Communication Breakdown and Risk of Abandonment

As costs increased, tensions rose quickly. The client refused to continue dealing with the forwarder and declined to pay the extra charges, believing they were caused by poor handling. Meanwhile, the forwarder lacked both the ability and willingness to resolve the issue and even considered walking away.

At this point, the cargo was stuck at the port with accumulating costs, and the risk of abandonment became very real. This would have resulted in significant financial loss and serious delays to the client’s overall project.

Our Decision: Stepping In Beyond Responsibility

From a contractual perspective, this situation was not our responsibility. We operate on an ex factory basis, and logistics arrangements were made by the client.

However, we chose not to step back. Instead, we took the initiative to get involved and support the client.

We re established communication by directly coordinating with the forwarder and the carrier. We also reorganized all customs documents to ensure accuracy and completeness, reducing repeated submissions.

At the same time, we helped clarify the cost structure, breaking down each charge so the client could clearly understand the situation and make informed decisions. Throughout the process, we actively followed up and pushed every step forward.

Continuous Effort: Solving Problems Step by Step

The process was far from smooth. Tight timelines, increasing costs, and poor cooperation made every step challenging. But we continued to move forward, resolving issues one by one.

With proper documentation and persistent follow up, customs clearance was finally completed. We then quickly coordinated container pickup and delivery, minimizing further costs and ensuring smooth transportation.

Final Result: Successful Delivery to the Client’s Home

After all the difficulties, the shipment was successfully cleared, collected, and delivered to the client’s home.

What was once at risk of being abandoned at the port was ultimately completed as a successful delivery, allowing the client’s home project to proceed as planned.

Conclusion: Professionalism Beyond Obligation

This case highlights the importance of choosing a reliable logistics partner. At the same time, it reflects how we approach our work.

Although we operate on an ex factory basis, we do not limit ourselves to minimum responsibility. When our clients face real challenges, we step in and provide full support.

In the end, we not only delivered the products but also ensured the success of the entire project. That is what we believe true professionalism and responsibility mean.
